Five days after the shocking murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, police found their suspect. Identified as 26-year-old Luigi Mangione, he was picked up at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after an employee alerted authorities. He was allegedly found to be in possession of a gun similar to the one used in the shooting, and a fake New Jersey ID that police believe he used to check into a hostel in New York.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan charged Mangione on Thursday with murder using a firearm, stalking, and possession of an illegal gun silencer. According to the complaint, Mangione spent months planning the attack, motivated by his anger toward the health insurance industry and wealthy executives.

Mangione was handed over to New York City police on Thursday after waiving extradition during a court hearing in Pennsylvania, where he was arrested after a five-day manhunt. Handcuffed and dressed in an orange jumpsuit, he was escorted off a helicopter in Lower Manhattan by a group of police officers. His journey included several vehicles, a plane, and a helicopter, all closely followed by cameras. Tourists at the Manhattan heliport eagerly recorded videos and snapped photos of his arrival.

The case is a complex web of chilling precision, possible motives, and a calculated escape. Click through this gallery to find a detailed breakdown of everything known about the investigation and the suspect so far.
