Tuvalu's use of digital twins for climate change adaptation
The sovereign state moving into the metaverse

When it comes to climate change, certain countries suffer the consequences more than others. Small islands, in particular, are having to grapple with rising sea levels and increased flooding that could eventually send them under.
For one group of islets in the Pacific Ocean, part of the solution is to take the island digital. In addition to providing a means for cultural preservation, it is hoped that the so-called "digital twin initiative" will inspire international lawmakers to rethink the concept of statehood.
