This Republican from Florida has been a loyal Donald Trump ally. Matt Gaetz was involved in a year-long Justice Department investigation that ended without charges. Though he is still under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for the same allegations, Donald Trump has said that he is "deeply gifted and tenacious."

President-elect Donald Trump has appointed two billionaires, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, to lead the new "Department of Government Efficiency." This won't be a federal agency but will give outside counsel on how to reform government departments and cut waste.

Elon Musk is a businessman and the co-founder of seven companies including the likes of Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI. He also bought Twitter (now known as X) for $US44 billion in 2022.

Alongside Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy will serve as co-head of the Department of Government Efficiency. Before this nomination, Forbes ranked Vivek Ramaswamy as "the second-wealthiest person to compete in a Republican presidential primary."

Vivek Ramaswamy has founded a biotechnology company, operated as a hedge fund partner, and authored at least two books. He made a bid for the Republican presidential candidacy but dropped out in January 2024 to endorse Trump. His campaign was critical of left-wing ideology, and he famously stated that the "climate agenda is a hoax."

Central to Donald Trump's campaign is the mass deportation of undocumented immigrants. His newly elected "border czar" Tom Homan has said he has a zero-tolerance stance on this issue. Homan was the acting ICE director during Trump's first presidency. The role of border czar is not Senate-confirmed.

Stephen Miller was a senior advisor who helped Trump craft immigration policies during his first term. His nomination does not need Senate approval and confirmation. His primary role in Trump's 2024 campaign was pledging to deport illegal immigrants who live in the US.
