The music landscape was unique in the mid-1980s. With MTV in full swing, America fell in love with heavy metal and emerging pop stars like Madonna. Lyrics became more experimental, and according to some, more inappropriate and obscene. Conservative America had to do something to curb teen enthusiasm for themes such as sex and drugs. Lo and behold, the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) was born. The group lobbied for restrictions, tried to introduce warning labels, and even had a star-studded senate hearing on the matter.  But what did the PMRC achieve in the end?
