- The famous Paris wax museum Musée Grévin showed off its new wax representation of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the fall of 2023. Unfortunately, it didn't get the reaction they were hoping for, as fans were quick to point out that the statue's skin was much lighter than Johnson's. The wrestler-turned-actor is of Samoan and Black Nova Scotian descent, and the museum was accused of "white-washing" by social media users. Johnson addressed the controversy by sharing a video in which comedian James Andre Jefferson makes fun of the statue, dragging the wax artist for "making The Rock look like David Beckham." Johnson commented, “I knew my boy @jamesjeffersonj had this Rock wax statue in his roasting crosshair.” He continued, “For the record, I’m going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grevin Museum, in Paris France so we can work at ‘updating’ my wax figure here with some important details and improvements - starting with my skin color."
