In recent news, President Donald Trump has issued another executive order, this one abolishing a number of federal advisory committees. Among these are the Presidio Trust, the Inter-American Foundation, the United States African Development Foundation, and the United States Institute of Peace.

Eliminating federal advisory boards is a policy shift that is in line with the objectives of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an initiative that centers around shrinking the size of the federal government and minimizing unnecessary government spending in order to save American taxpayers’ money.

For some, this executive order may seem controversial. However, this is not the first time Trump has issued an order that has sparked debate among the public. Indeed, on the first day of his second term, President Trump wasted no time, issuing extensive executive orders in accordance with his promised agenda and political allies. One such example would be the pardoning of those involved in the January 6 attempted takeover of the US Capitol, which left five dead and over 170 injured. Trump also repealed many of predecessor Joe Biden's orders, and took decisive positions regarding international climate agreements and the social media platform TikTok, among other measures, leaving many world leaders concerned about the potential repercussions over the next four years.
