Long famed, the Buffalo Soldiers were African-American troops whose regiments were the first comprised solely of all-black combatants. Evolving from the segregated units that saw action during the American Civil War, Buffalo Soldiers earned a reputation for courage and self-discipline in various campaigns including the Indian Wars, the Spanish–American War, and the Philippine–American War.
